What is PowerFence and how does it work?
PowerFence is a monitored, energised perimeter security system. It carries a safe but deterrent pulse and detects any attempt to cut or climb the fence line — so it does three jobs at once: deters intruders, detects a breach, and delays entry while raising the alarm.
Is an electric security fence safe and legal?
Yes. When designed and installed to the relevant UK and international standards, an energised security fence delivers a short, safe pulse rather than a dangerous current, and is clearly signed. We design and install it to be compliant and appropriate for the site.
Can PowerFence integrate with CCTV and alarms?
Yes — and it should. We tie the perimeter into CCTV and intruder alarms so a fence-line activation can be verified on camera and trigger the right response immediately.
What kind of sites is PowerFence suited to?
Sites where the boundary is the first and most important line of defence — industrial estates, utilities, storage and distribution, and high-security or Critical National Infrastructure sites. It’s the discipline SBM has spent two decades on.
Will weather or wildlife cause constant false alarms?
